There is a direct line from the clothes we wear to species extinction. If there’s one word you need to know relative to fashion’s role in the climate and ecological crisis today, it’s biodiversity. One of the three pillars of the G7 Fashion Pact, restoring natural ecosystems and protecting species is arguably the industry’s biggest, yet least known challenge. Dr. Helen Crowley, expert on the intersection of fashion and biodiversity, is currently working on providing science-based methodologies and guidance for fashion companies to meet their biodiversity commitments.
